  • MSP 8 and .ufo files

    Quote from Mediastudio Pro 8 website:

    PhotoImpactâ„¢ UFO files can be directly inserted in the timeline, maintaining all objects and alpha channel
    I'm trying to import .ufo files with transparent background with MSP 8 trial.. But i'm not able to keep the alpha channel.
    All work perfectly with .png files (and MSP 8 auto-activates the overlay option !! Great !)

    Suggestions ?

    In PI first select all the objects you want to import into MSP (or use the Select All Objects menu option) then save using Object/Export Object. Save as a UFO and this file will import with an alpha channel.

      Thanks Dr.Mordrid.

      This is the method that i use with Mediastudio 7. The problem is that you lose object properties like Drop Shadows.

      I think that using .pgn is better and easy:

      - Create a new image with transparent canvas.
      - Draw object.. apply effect like drop shadows etc..
      - Save as .png
      - Import .png in MSP 8 timeline -> Alpha channel Auto Enabled !!

      It's a bit strange that there is a better integration with .pgn and not with ufo.

        More like a service pack for PI than for MSP8, which knows how to use alphas. It's PI that has trouble creating them for a whole UFO image.

        If you want to use UFO objects with dropshadows here's how;

        Use the Object/Split Shadow selection on the object. Next shift-select the object and the dropshadow and then use Merge As Single Object.

        Now when you use Objects/Select All the dropshadows will also be selected and exported.
