I think WinME is hopeless until you appliy the DirectX 8 update and the DirectX 8DV update. Two seperate downloads.

What chipset is the Advansys 1394 card?

Good luck if it is based on either the Via or NEC 1394 chipset. If its TI it should work.

I've no problems with DV and G200 on w2k, but then the Marvel features are still unusable due to lack of w2k drivers and video tools from Matrox.

Return the Advansys and buy a cheap TI based firewire card.

ADS Pyro is a good choice, but I've also had good success setting up systems with generic 1394 cards using the TI chip -- Dlink, Digital Research, and one with no makers marks of any kind.

Only NEC and Via based 1394 cards have given me trouble. IF Advansys can't produce working drives you will be SOL, so return it if you can.

Propritary 1394 cards are generally bad news unless, like the Canopus DV Raptor, they come with a complete set of drivers and editing software from a company with a proven track record of timely updates.
