I tried it. It downloads fine but after trying 2 email addresses (real ones, and no Gmail, Hotmail and other free webmail) I still haven't received a serial.

Guess I'll stick to Xvid

Not too late, I applied this morning. Just waiting for the serials. Hopefully they;ll show up. If not, no biggie. The times XVID lagged behind DIVX are long gone.

If someone sends you a serial it will still be illegal as it is tied to the personal mail address used to request it.

It will work but you'll still be running an illegal version. Asking for an illegal serial is not something you want to do here I think.
