  • G400 DVD playback Macrovision hack?

    Hi there,

Is there a Macrovision hack for the regular G400? (not the marvel/g450tv/etc).
I've got my G400 hooked up to my VCR and would like to be able to watch movies without the macrovision distortion :-/

I know there was a workaround in earlier drivers and some nitwit posted it to the Matrox forums and it got fixed. I also know there are devices that solve the problem for you. But I also know that there is a fix for the videotools so it should be possible to do that for the regular drivers, right?

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

    Greets,
    Jorg

Hack will not halp against "macrovision distrotion", it can only remove macrovision check and message. To remove macrovision effects you need to buy a separate macrovision remover.

Then how come the older drivers could be tricked into removing the macrovision distortion?

This hack only removes annoying false macrovision message.

There is no notification message at all. I don't know what you're talking about.

The hack I was referring to is the following:
          >- i start the DVDPlayer the usual way
          >- then i do a PAUSE at the begining of the movie
          >- I turn ON TVOUT in video settings
          >- i go to Monitor setting....Adjust current display mode
          >- i Click CANCEL
          >- i get out of Display settings

          >Et voila...

          >It seems to disable TVOUT Macrovision untill next time you press PLAY on the DVDPlayer...

          So my question remains:
If this was possible in the old drivers, then why can't anything be done in the new ones?

          Greets,
          Jorg

That was a bug until some idiot decided to report it on their bug forum. Ever since that day, they had to fix that and a few other bugs which let us disable macrovision.

That's why I never upgraded from the older drivers; didn't have anything I needed in the new ones.

                Hey Swamp,

I know! (See my first post)
I just want to know if it's possible in the recent drivers as well...
