• G450 eTV black and white TV

I don't seem to be having much luck with this card! I have now tried the dual head TV output and the picture is black and white. I see there are settings under advanced display properties -the black and white box is not checked - under this there are sliders for contrast and brightness, should there be anything for colour?

    Thanks (again)

Hi, I can't answer your question directly but I'm sure I've seen similar problems posted here at the official Matrox support forums. You might want to try a search there and see what comes up

Is the input signal from cable, antenna or a cam/deck?

One thing you'll find that will cause a black & white picture is a weak video signal. The eTV's input PROCAMP's can only boost a weak one so much.

This is a particular problem for me with one Sony Hi8 I have that has a low chroma output. In order to get color on it I've always had to put a small video preamp in line with it. That or feed its signal through my JVC SVHS deck or my BVP-4+ video processor for amplification.

Antenna signals would be the worst for this, but a lot of consumer video devices put out less than spec signal levels as well. Cable boxes included.

I can't answer for the eTV specifically, but over the years there have been many reports of B&W output, and mainly these come from using S-video leads either wrongly wired or leading to a non-svideo device. Svideo Scart leads are frequently suspect !

Thanks guys, it was the S-video lead, composite works - excellent picture.
