  • Nice Price! But AMD 761 chipset?

Crucial just pullad all DDR memory prices down to the same level as SDram!

DDR mobos are still a bit more expensive, but not by that much.

However, the only decent DDR chipset out there is the AMD761.

Anyone know if this gives trouble with 'exotic' hardware such as video capture cards?

My past experience with SIS chipset motherboards suggests waiting a while longer indeed if you think that somehow these guys can come from low-ball trailing edge designs to the latest and greatest without problems.

Personally I'd wait at least six months until after XP is released to be sure you don't get stuck with something that'll never work correctly with the next generation.

XP stands for eXtra Problems if you ask me

I'm more concerned if the boards with AMD761 will work with the next gen Palomino's.

Since nobody here reports negartive issues with AMD761, can I conclude there are none, or is just no-one using one yet?

I'd wait a little more. The new SiS735 DDR chipsets looks like a winner, it's faster in the previews than the AMD760 in most tests and it will be cheaper.
Besides I like the one chip (no seperate North-/Southbridge with all its problems) design.
