Sam's Club in the Chicago area has this 3-disc DVD player for $159. I recall reading posts here a few months ago about it (or other Apex models). I wondered what you all think about Apex players, especially this particular one, today.

I have two AD-660's now. They both can play any standard VCD or SVCD Nero 5.5 or the Ulead DVD Plugin can produce.
I've used both the TMPGEnc 12a and the updated Ligos GoMotion encoders with good results.

I have an AD-703 and I really like it. I have nothing to compare it to though, but it's nice to be able to stick in a VCD and be able to watch 2 disks of a movie w/out getting up.
Cons would be: no power function on the remote, wife says she sees delay in audio sometimes( I don't see it) this can be adjusted, tends to flake when FF or RW thru CD-R VCD(have to reset) only when using this function repeatedly, limited title length for MP3 titles.
Most of the Cons are outweighed by the cost of the system, and the fact that it plays so many formats. I know people with much more expensive systems that don't use their DVD players as much as I do because it is so versatile. The price of the Apex forced me to stop watching DVD from my PC w/G400 TV-out. Lots of function from the remote, great picture, and outstanding verstatility, along with a cost you can't beat made this unit one of my best purchases.
Hope this helps
