Help! I can not get my Panasonic MX300 to function on the firewire with Matrox card. In Prem6 it does not see the camera, yet with UleadPro6 no problem.
At the back of my mind I seem to remember there was a slip of yellow or white paper with the Matrox/Prem. manuals regarding firewire setup but I cannot find it anymore.
    Any suggestions please.

When you launch Premiere, choose the Matrox DV/DVCAM digital preset, hit ok, once Premiere is done loading, you click file/capture/movie/ make sure your camera is on, and the device control driver is set to Matrox and NOT the Premiere defaults.

Hit the red record button in the Premiere capture window and it should start capturing from your camcorder.

    Hope this helped.

Once you get things sorted out try using the MediaTools (assuming you're using MVT 3.0).

I haven't used the Premiere capture functions since the MediaTools came along. TooDarnedNice.

I agree with Doc, Media Tools is a great utility to scan and capture from DV cam or deck, once you get used to it, you'll never go back to Premiere and capture from there

        cheers,

Gents forgive me but I am running v3.0 and when I use the capture tools I see no picture on sceen when play is selected, and when record is selected no recording takes place, all settings are for dv/dvcam etc. matroc standard template.

Have you run through chapter 2 of the manual yet? That fully documents the settings in Premiere you should define before use. Page 32 covers DV device control.

You might also try using another 1394 cable. You never know if one is whacked.

MediaTools is part of the 3.0 driver installation. It's in the Matrox Media Tools group in the START menu.

Another VERY handy utility (for some of us) is the stop-motion capture utility created just for the RT-2x00 by Paul Martin. Great utility, and its FREE.

Oooops, i thought it was a 3rd party software, as i only have a G200; not a matrox video product.

There's a good chance your dv device was installed as a "Microsoft imaging or DV device". You need to update ( or delete and hit refresh) the drivers for it to use dvcam.sys. It should be detected in your device manager as a "1394 device" under "sound video etc..".

Good solutions my friends but I have Ulead MSP 6.0 working perfectly with the same cable & Matrox IEE Card. The V3 Matrox is a beta and I hope tomorrow will see the delivery of new CD's with the final release, so I will wait until I've installed this and report later.
                    Thanks to you all.
