    Dying Marvel G400TV?

    Okay, so I solved the problem with my DVD Workshop (problem caused by my own dumb ass). But it becomes increasingly apparent that my old Marvel G400tv is crapping out. The thumbnails provided should give you an idea of what I'm facing. All video settings are at default.

    My original Marvel G200TV, on the other hand, continues to give me a great picture and capture.

    I'm currently "auditioning" tuner cards hoping to find one I like. Just wasn't satisfied with the All-In-Wonders. Guess the old Marvel has me spoiled. Damn Matrox for dumping the product line!

    Less than $20 and it is NIB, can't beat that.

      Tempting, but I really do need to migrate to XP and try as I might, my results using Adis' drivers are marginal at best. Dropped frames all over the place.

        While not as good a dualhead mode as the Matrox's the AIW's capture modes work nicely. The newer ones are also DirectShow, opening up the possilbility of capturing MPEG directly with programs like the MainConcept MPEG encoder and other DS software. Not much good VfW software coming out these days.

          When looking at the thumbnails, I get the feeling that this is more about bad tuning/reception than a faulty capture. Are you sure that it isn't a loose connector or cable crack?

            The pix are jpg screen captures directly from Vidtools, not vid caps. It's definitely not the cable. I haven't swapped the BOBs between the two Marvels because the G200 is too hard to get to. I suppose I'll have to eventually. Just lazy, I guess.

              Okay, so I hiked up my britches, sparked up a cigar (wife not home) and started swapping components and testing. To recap:

              It's not the tv cable
              It's not the BOB
              It's not the BOB cable
              It's not corrupted drivers.

              What's left?

                  Intermittent problems are either caused by heat, bad solder joints, bad connections or failing components, usually IC's or transistors.

                  Hopefully it was just a bad connection.

                    Try to put video directly through the Video-In Connector.

                    It might be a Bad tuner or a bad Capture.
                    If only tuner is bad, you can use an old VCR to tune.
