  • JVC's New Low Cost "Low Light" Camcorders

"JVC's exclusive "Low Light Plus" incorporates two key technologies: The F1.2 Super Bright Lens obtains twice the light of an F1.8 lens assuring a bright picture with less noise even in less than desirable lighting conditions."

"And Three Dimensional Noise Reduction (3D NR) eliminates picture noise up to 30% in low light situations."

I wonder how well they actually perform.

I'm skeptical of good low light performance from a 1/6" CCD. An f1.2 lens will help, but not all that much unless its constant aperature which I'm betting it isn't with a 15:1 zoom ratio.

Why no Lux rating spec if its so good? Sony 3CCD (VX2000 series) camcorders seem to spec 3 Lux and in apples to apples tests I've seen still seem to deliver the best low light performace at a price a I can almost afford
