  • G200 and Linux -- need help to set up TV

Okay, so I have the new drivers (mga_drv and mga_hal_drv) all set up and I'm running at a nice, sweet high resolution. My next step is getting the TV tuning features to work. I've read briefly on Video4Linux (an API of some sort) and I downloaded a slew of TV apps. All of them balk at me and most of them complain that I have no /dev/video.

Before Matrox released these new drivers, I was trying to play around with a tarball called "mgavideo-0.1.0-test2". I don't remember offhand the place from which I downloaded it, but it was pretty much a link from the V4L 2.0 page.

Anyway, any suggestions on what I might do to get this all in operational order?

You are on the bleeding edge of Linux here.

IF you get it to work please post the tricks here as I'd love to try too. I'm very short on time right now, but I'm setting aside parts to put together a Linux box to start playing with Linux video when I get some spare time.

From what I've read, you want kernel 2.4.x and Xfree4 so I'm planning to start with Mandrake 8. If this is not right, I'd love to know before I get started down the wrong road.

I'd ask this over in the Alternative Lifestyles forum as well, I know several people over there have this already setup.
