ULEAD: WMV HD Menus on Standard DVDs?

Is there a Ulead product that allows one to author WMV HD content - with menus - on standard DVD discs?

I'm thinking it might be possible for a consumer to avoid Blu-Ray and HD DVD completely by distributing WMV HD content in addition to SD content on one or more discs that could, in theory, be played by new generation players with WMV HD playback capability.

That might save the consumer a lot of money.

Right - this model doesn't have a hard disk.

However, it will play DivX HD...

I guess the obvious question is...

If one can use an inexpensive consumer software program to create DVD menus for WMV HD on a standard DV disc, why would he or she have to upgrade his or her equipment to support HDV?

Wouldn't HDV... in effect... be an obsolete technology?

A fellow in Hong Kong has the SANYO HD1 and he's claiming the video suffers from NOISE.
