Petros,

That is your right. You will find that I am open minded in all aspects of life. I don't (unfortunately) know Cyprus, as I don't know many other areas of the world, whether strife-ridden or otherwise.

I am not "imposing" anything on you, either subjectively or otherwise. I am merely pointing out that this is not a political forum and I'm not prepared to allow it to become one (notice that I haven't made any comments on the current election campaign being waged on my own doorstep here in the UK at the moment, regardless of my own feelings).

My understanding of the beginning of this thread was that it was to do with an exchange of greetings between forum regulars who have never met but have experienced recent weather conditions in Cyprus and some general comments addressed to/at Brian because we know he lives there. He exchanged friendly comment with you, as he does with most people that cross his path, that is his way.

Somewhere along the way it has become distorted from the original innocent intent and turned into a political debate. Sorry, that's where it stops. Politics have no place on a technical video forum. I'm sure that you can find plenty of places where world politics are welcome, and if you see fit to issue an invitation to Brian (or me for that matter) to discuss matters at such a forum, then I'm sure that we would respond in a considered manner.

Meanwhile, if you have any problems with videocapture or editing, don't hesitate to come back here and ask - we're an open community.

All the best

Chris

Chris, I feel like I'm somewhat responsible for the direction this thread took. Brian was kind enough to answer my inquiry and then it took off from there. Sorry.

Brian, thanks for the interesting history lesson on Cyprus. I should have realized though that there was a chance my innocent question would open up a few wounds. Oh well, live and learn.

Petros, at the risk of ticking off Chris, I'm still curious what your answer is in regards to Brian's question which was asked of you five days ago:
Are you interested in video work that you happened to hit on it (the reference to your site) so soon after I wrote it?
You never addressed this question. As I say, I'm simply curious. How were you made aware of Brian's comments at this site so quickly? Is there something about the internet and the tracking of forum posts that I'm unaware of? I'm not paranoid, but...

Sorry for writing again and bothering anyone who is not interested. But this would be the last time in order to answer to the above question. Anyone who wants to talk with me about cyprus further please feel free to e-mail me at any time at petros@mit.edu (preferably after a few weeks as I am struggling to finish my thesis right now).

No, I am not interested in "video work that I happened to hit on it", I just use to check, for security reasons, who is checking my site and I traced the reference after I noticed numerous hits from England on my site. Then, reading Brian's post, which I liked, I though t that it wont bother people to write a few words based on Brians post.

I am sorry for any inconvinience I might have cost by my intervention.

I guess this is the really last word I should say. Best regards and thanks
Petros

Hmmm, apparently there's lots about the internet and the tracing of "hits" that I'm unaware of...

Thanks for your response Petros. I hope someday soon there will be peace in your homeland.
