  • MS Pro 6.0 losing audio sync about 20min into project?

I have a 40 minute project that I'm trying to print back to dv tape. It's slowely losing audio/video sync. It's noticable 20 minutes into production.

    Any tips?

I have a PIII 850 with fast hard drive. Project files are on second hard drive and it was defragmented. Created permanent swap file. Auto insert notification off.

The final 40 minute production is a combination of 7 smaller files.

    Any help greatly appreciated.

BTW, audio output is 44.1 KHz.

Did you apply the DVpatchII from Ulead's web site?

To go back to the DV camcorder, audio has to be 32K or 48K in your project settings. To my knowledge DV offers no other options and not all camcorders support 32K audio so 48K is the best choice.

I fixed it. This is interesting.

My project have an audio setting of PCM 44.1kHz. The reason I used 44.1 sampling rate is because when I clicked on the audio track of some recorded dv audio the properties said it was 44.1. To avoid resampling I used that setting.

I switched the project setting so 44.1 DV Audio. No more audio/video sync problems.

Does the DV audio have some additional sync information in the stream. It does have the higher bandwidth than the normal PCM audio at that sampling rate.

It definitely will work best if you use the DVAudio codec and not PCM audio in the project setting, but the sample rate has to be either 32k or 48k. Which depends on what the cam was set up for during the shoot.

          Doc -

I'm telling you, output using 44.1 kHz sampling rate works perfectly.

I record on the SP setting on my dv cam. When inspecting the audio tracks in MS Pro using "properties" it says they are 44.1kHz. Is MS Pro wrong?
