Now that hardware required by it (dual CPus and lots of RAM...) become common...anyone want to check what to think about it?

Not bad, 13MB download, installed wih no hassles. runs staright away.(no dpendencies)
A little bit clunky, though I am starting to get to used to it pretty quickly.
Does render quite quickly and does load up both cpu's quite well.
Some of the output codec options crash(ms mpeg 4), but the h264 is quite solid(doesn't crash)

There are quite a few options about setting up a render farm. seem reasonably fast as is but with a render farm it would fly
Man I am impressed , after an hour of playing with it becomes very easy to use.
I am going to be using this a lot I think.
One catch tho, I need to find some playback codec's for use in linux outside of cinelerra.Last edited by Marshmallowman; 10 March 2006, 06:47.

suse 10.0 x64
dual opteron 248's, supermicro hd8ce 2G (1 Gig per cpu)
it does DV 1394 input stuff
but I can't see anything for outputting mpeg2 ?
I don't have any capture hardware in this machine but rerendering and editing seems to work well enough.
except audio is getting out of sync...
supported video compression:
h264, dual h264, mpeg 4, dual mpeg 4, microsoft mpeg-4, dv , jpeg photo,
motion jpeg A,png, png with alpha, uncompressed RGB/RGBA, YUV 4:2:0 planar
component video, ycbcr 8bit 4:4:4/10bit 4:4:4, ycbcra 8bit 4:4:4/
whatever they mean, wtf is dual h264 or motion jpeg A?Last edited by Marshmallowman; 10 March 2006, 07:21.

I'm still shocked.
You have got a new fan.
Do next tests with Disney's cartoon, please.

OK used a dvd clip, re rendered using h264/mpeg -4 audio, 1/3 the size no descernable quality loss and audio sync is perfect.
I like it, however the gui can be a bit twitchy deal with some dodgy source material..eg it can crash or lock up. but just reloading and avoiding the "bad bits" does the job....the rendering itself is very stable and hits both cpu';s at 100%
The interface is kind of reminisant of media studo pro 5, buit with its own quirks. But it is starting to feel very comfortable. It does have a complete command line interface as well and suppport for batch rendering Its a pity I don't have a few spare decent machines to play around wih the render farm bit.
It seems to allow an arbitary amount of video and audio tracks in the time line which is cool but is way overkill ofr my needs
I guess the next step would be pulling one of capture cards out of my htpc and seeing how well the analogue capture workd....well that can wait
I am very happy with it and will be using whenever I have to do any recompressing or editing
I am not sure some of you windows video pros would be comfortable using it, but I do think it would do the job.
PS: it supports up to 1080P as an output format
