  • pal dvd: mpeg-audio (yes or no)

    Hello,

I'm authoring a DVD for some friends of mine (using Pinnacle Studio 8). To write the disk, I have the option to use 'MPEG-audio' (it is a checkbox, changes from PCM audio).
Pinnacle states that PAL players are required to support MPEG-audio, but that it is optional on NTSC players (though most support it).

So, is it safe to use MPEG-audio? (it is just a regular stereo stream)
Using PCM audio, the movie won't fit on a single DVD...

I would think that if you are in PAL land then you should be safe - I am also a PAL user and have had no complaints about the mpeg audio I exclusively use.

NTSC is more often than not a chance you take ...............

most of the DVD's I make are NTSC with mpg encoded audio, and I have never had a poblem playing them back in a DVD player.
