Perfect capture without audio - drops with audio

I can capture everything I want with my Marvel G400: Full resolution PAL uncompressed nearly without drops. (I use AVI_IO, but it is the same with others.)
But this works only, when I do not capture audio. Activating audiocaptureing I get much many drops, even if audio and video is set to poor quality. So th eproblem can not be caused by slow hardware.
My Soubdcard is a Soundblaster Live, but I tried another card with another chipset, and got the same result.
OS is Win 2k.

Obviously the problem is bus loading. The open question is; what can be done about it? To that end my questions are;

what other audio cards did you try?

have you tried turning off the ISA emulation in the PCI audio cards you have used?

have you turned off spatial, reverb and other resource hogging features like memory resident voices in the sound cards?

what mainboard/CPU are you using?

what other devices are in your system?
