  • Ulead MediaStudio Pro With 2nd Monitor: WHY NO OVERLAY?

    Hi all,

This is probably a simple issue to fix.

I'm using a newer NOTEBOOK computer by Gateway to run Ulead MediaStudio Pro 8.0.

I've connected a very nice LCD external monitor (using the VGA OUT from my NOTEBOOK computer).

When I click on PRODUCTION LIBRARY clips, I can get the video to play on the screen of my NOTEBOOK COMPUTER, but when I observe the screen of the connected, external LCD display, I see only black in the SOURCE WINDOW of Ulead Video Editor (in MediaStudio Pro 8.0).

    What am I missing?

Why isn't the overlay supported on the 2nd, external monitor?

I know that for ATI based notebooks you can set whether the overlay is for the internal screen or the external screen, but you can't have overlay active on both.

I'm not sure about nVidia or Intel GM based notebooks but I'd guess the same would be true.
    P.S. You've been Spanked!

      Thanks.

Yep, my NOTEBOOK computer features an ATI video display.

So now I'm wondering where to make the selection to send the overlay to the 2nd monitor.

      ?

Anybody know how to do that?

That would probably be the theatre mode tab in display properties

          OK, thanks.

I'll check that out in the morning.

          Later,

Okay, I found the menu... it was in the DISPLAY settings.

OVERLAY is now working on the LCD Panel.

            Thanks again.

Wow, Doc, that's a cool Matrox display!

                I had forgotten about that.

That might be a worthwhile purchase in the future.

For now, however, I'm quite pleased by this 20" Acer Ferrari flat panel display.

It looks quite cool... glossy black and red with that Ferrari logo.

                Fun... and a great picture!
