  • Ulead free goodies for GoDVD

The new ones are not too bad.

If this collection gets as large as the one for Cool3D it'll be something. They've issued many times the number of effects in the original bundle.

    Ulead free goodies for GoDVD

    FYI,

From time to time, Ulead gives additional templates for use in their products. If you are an owner of the GoDVD software, here is the page where you can get the latest set of templates:
    http://www.ulead.com/dvd/free.htm

If you are not aware of this, some of their other products have a similar setup. For example, new Cool3D templates are released every month.

    Thank you

What s/w do they use to create the templates? A template appears to comprise a .BMP (simple) and a .ufo

They are plain-Jane *.ufo files comprised of several layered objects. Load one into PhotoImpact6 and you can examine how they're made. You can create your own in PhotoImpact6 with a little practice and checking out of the existing presets layout.

The base image is 768x576 and provides the background color, which can be any NTSC/PAL legal color.

The main image is a 693x520 object overlaying the background.

Each control object, preview window, border or flourish is just an object overlaying the main image and the background.

The thumbnail displayed in the DVD Plugin is just a small 120x90 object of the completed graphic placed in the first preview window.

Each of the objects can be either a canned one from PhotoImpact6 or a converted bitmap.

Of course you can change the background layer by just loading a background from within the DVD Plugin, but you can't change the layout of the preview windows or their borders this way.
