  • Audio drifting out of synch??

    Hi once again folks,
Something weird has started happening on the p4/win98se box. The audio starts to drift out of synch with the video. Over time, they are more than a couple seconds out of synch with each other.

Any clue what may be causing this and how to resove it???

I'm not sure what's happened...everything was working fine about a week ago. Am using the recommended vidtools and powerdesk (the ones that work with the macrovision crack and Flying Dutchman's YUY-enabler). Have no IRQ conflicts or anything.

The 'lock audio stream' box is checked in virtualdub.

    As always....thanks,

first off, how much ram,hdd space and buffer on the hdd, does it drop frames when you capture? what sound card ? try uninstalling the last thing you installed on your pc maybe it's giving it problems. also try using the pc-vcr program i find VD to be very crappy in producing a good capture image. What is the resolution your using and settings to capture ?

      Hi omega,

      OK....
      p4 1.4GHz
      asus p4t mobo
      256meg rdram
      4x45gig ata100 RAID0
      promise fastrack 100
      turtle beach montegoII+ soundcard
win98se---so all the tweaks from the matrox faq (min/max filecache=10240, 384meg swap file)

Will take a look tonight at what the last installs before the problem started were.

Anything other than that that could be the culprit?

Funsoul, like your work by the way. If you don't understand the compliment, then I have the wrong Funsoul.

Anyways, it happens to me, but it is with an AIW Radeon. When I do real time MPEG-2 with 720x480x29.97fps IBP frames, 15Mbit VBR I get audio out of synch IF I have anything running in the background under W2K. So if I pause Motherboard Monitor and ZoneLabs Zonealarm, the audio is in synch, so it could relate to something now taking too much resources in the background.
