  • Digital8 question, do I have a 2GB file limit again?

I have picked up a Sony TRV730 and I plan on edit with Adobe Premiere 6.0 and a TI based Firewire PCI card.

What I am wondering is, do I have a 2GB file limit again? I got used to using my ATI AIW and capping to a NTFS partition with 30GB available.

I imagine avi_io or oterh apps will allow me to overcome the limit if it exists.

If your TI based firewire card supports OpenDML captures under NTFS, you'll be able to capture up to 2 terrabytes.

If it doesn't, 2 gig is the limit, unless it can span to multiple 2 gig files like the Marvel G400 cards.

    Cheers,

      Error Correction

4GB is the filesize limit for Windows 98 (FAT32)

2GB is the old 'Video for Windows' file size limit, Direct Show AVI's have no practical file size limit, as seen in Windows 2000 NTFS.

      Cheers
