  • Rgb capture in win2k with 450etv

    Hi everybody, i own a g450etv and i have 2 problems:
    1. if i set rgb format for my capture the cpu usage goes to 100% whatever codec i use to compress (if i use YUV2 the cpu usage is acceptable between 30 and 80%). In win98 the rgb capture uses the same cpu as yuv2.

    2. whatever codec i use, i get 1 dropped frame per minute. I've tried all the possible combinations of audio/video codecs even uncompressed but every minute it looses a frame.

    This is my configuration:
Mother board Microstar K7T-PRO2/A (Via kt133 chipset)
    384Mb 133Mhz ram
    Athlon 900
    Audio AC97 on board
2 HD Quantum 7200 rpm (60 Gb and 20 Gb)
    3com etherlink xl network card
    Win2k professional SP2 with via 4in1 4.31
    Videotools 2.0.2
Virtualdub 1.3c or 1.4d for capture

Btw under windows 98 the rgb capture works fine, the problem is only under windows 2000.

    Any idea ???
Many thanks ... and excuse my english but i'm from Italy

I'm running into the exact some problem here, but I don't loose frames if I disable audio from being captured. You might try capturing without audio and see what happens. For me, I didn't loose any frames. I think it has something to do with video audio sync.

This is typical of bus loading. VIA chipsets and el-cheapo (quality, not price) PCI audio are the usual suspects.

I had similar results until I disabled DualHead Clone under display properties.

Just thought I'd make the post incase you haven't done it.

Haven't had that problem with DualHead/DVDMax though.

i'll try to disable the dual head clone and i'll set up my sb 128 pci ... i don't use it 'cause it sounds terrible compared to the onboard card.
