        Upgrade price?

Does it fix the preview scrubbing and single frame advance problems with G450 DVDmax feature?

Can it import type 2 DV files edited with Premiere6? This doesn't seem to work in v6.02.

Not knowing anything about this real time preview aspect... that's the part that has me most curious.

Imagine it: Software Real Time preview to an external TV monitor *without* rendering.

The Singapore Computer Magazine internet article suggests it for sure:

Dunno about price at all as Ulead has not shared the release details with the betas.

            In the past, for whatever that's worth, Ulead has issued two upgrades;

A free one that is a VEditor update only.

A commercial one with VEditor and other programs updated plus added content.

This is how it was when 5.0 was updated to 5.2. CGInfinity and VideoPaint were updated in the commercial version and VizFx was part of the bundle as well.

If one wanted to speculate, and that's all this tome is, you could come up with something similar with the commercial update getting the DVD Plugin. I speculate that because there is now a version of VideoStudio5 that has the DVD Plugin in the bundle.

Ulead 6.5 will be worth every penny! Now Adobe needs a 6.5 upgrade as well
              Cheers,

                Don't down load the MSP6.5 trial, it's only MSP6
There has been some swift editing at Ulead UK

This 30-day trial is a 34MB file. It includes all five program modules (Video Editor, Video Paint, CG Infinity, Video Capture and Audio Editor) of the MediaStudio Pro 6.0 digital video editing suite but has the following limitations:

It's now been changed back to 6.0 not 6.5 as was the case last night.

Hmmmm. Seems there really *is* some sort of "real time playback" feature.

Wish I could get my hands on it!

I understand StudioDV by Pinnacle has some sort of real time software preview feature.

Does anybody have experience with that?

Does it give you a real time preview (without rendering) to the external TV monitor? Or just to the desktop?

I understand it shows you titles and transitions. But what about filters?

I suppose this is what could be in the next MediaStudio Pro 6.5 update.

If so - I'm sold on this feature alone.

Okay... I have contacted my secret Ulead sources in Taiwan and Japan and I have some details on the real time preview function to be featured in MediaStudio Pro 6.5.

                      1. It is, indeed, a real time preview of effects, including overlays and titles.

                      2. It is a preview to your *computer* monitor (not to an external TV monitor).

                      3. It's dependent on your having a fairly beefy processor.

(I'm advised even multi-layer composites can be previewed successfully with the fastest processors. Imagine the time savings!)

                      Now get this...

The new 6.5 update *adds* not only support for the Pentium 4, but *also* 3DNow! for AMD Athlon processors!!!

So what I'm talking about here is SIGNIFICANTLY FASTER RENDERING.

My sources advise the rendering speed improvement on 1+Ghz AMD Athlon processors will "knock your socks off."

There are AMAZING enhancements to the production library, too, including what is similar to the "AUTOMATE TO TIMELINE" function in Premiere 6!!

But that's not all: The Ligos MPEG functionality has been drastically improved!!!

Now... the MPEG-2 encoding is FIELD-BASED for great-looking TV display.

And... there's true Variable Bit Rate control!

In my opinion, MediaStudio Pro 6.5 will be the most advanced sub-$1,000 video editor available with built-in support for CD, S-VCD, mini-DVD authoring (and later in the year for DVD-R authoring). I'm selling my copy of Adobe Premiere because I don't think Adobe has a chance of catching up. (It took them forever just to get OHCI DV support built in to Premiere.)

                      Here's the disappointing news:

It appears the Matrox "real time" effort has failed.

Matrox has decided their resources are stretched too tightly to engineer real time functionality with MediaStudio Pro.

Ulead has determined there is no way to "backward engineer" such functionality, either.

So - for at least another year - it appears dual stream hardware support is not going to happen.

But - hey - with real time software previews coming in just two more months (end of August) - I'm not crying about it.

                        I'm confused.

Was there a trial version 6.5 to download or did it state that it was 6.5 but actually was only 6.0?

Calm down JJ!! Sheesh...are you tryin' to get MSPro 5/6 users excited or something?

Seriously guys, this will be a major update and very much worth considering. It sure as hell has sped things up here.

                            Sorry, Doc.

                            I'm just sooooo excited!!

By the way, it looks like ULEAD have released a new 3D modeling program that looks very, very interesting.

It's called ULEAD Expression Tools SHADE or ETShade for short.

It's featured on the Taiwan Web site:
                            http://www.ulead.com.tw/shade/features.htm

                              Hmmm.....

Perhaps a modeling front end on the C3D engine?

Would be cool to have 3D as a plugin
