      Do you think it will work? Especially as the same link has no media available for it yet. How long will it take a 50 Gb disc to write at 2X?

          The only reason anybody would want to buy one now is to store large quantities of video as data files.

          It might not be cost effective to jump on it this early, however.

          The price will drop considerably.

            Not to mention that RICHO has developed new R/W optics that can do BR, HD DVD, CD and DVD. IMO combo drives will be the salvation of both HD formats, if that's possible after all this bad PR.

              funny fact - laptops should not need HDCP compliant graphics cards to be able to play full res HD content on the screen. external outputs, on the other hand...

              I find it sad that most movies do not actually enable the down scaling feature anyways...

              just Sony being Sony...
