Best is only about 40% faster than the worst for video encoding!
What I found most intresting was the slowest encoding was ony 40% faster on the fastest machine, yet the CPU cost was over 5X more. Bang/buck not!
I'll probably wait until I can actually get a 6600 as the best compromise right now.
On the "science" benchmarks the AM2 holds up well and still has price advantages, but for us video folks Core2 is clearly the only way to go right now.
