SAN JOSE, Calif. — Get ready for round two of the "attack of the killer micros," said Phil Hester, Advanced Micro Devices CTO, in a keynote speech at the International Conference on Computer-Aided Design (ICCAD) here Monday (Nov. 6). By combining graphics processing unit (GPU) and CPU functions in heterogeneous cores, Hester said, microprocessors will bring supercomputer performance to the desktop.
