  • PANASONIC's Junky New Standard Definition Camcorders

The NV-GS320 has no microphone input.

The VDR-D310 does have a microphone input and a decent data rate, but it's still too expensive for a standard definition camcorder.

    Sad.

It seems they're all just throwing a bunch of junk at us now.

Hard to take any of them seriously.

Panasonic isn't alone. All the consumer cameras are pretty junky, especially since seeing headshrinkers making things so small they are impossible to manipulate with normal-sized hands and even more impossible to keep still when hand-held. This is one of the reasons I stick with my 11+ year old Panasonic mini-DV which has sufficient weight and volume to be usable (and has mike input and phones output!). I'm not saying there aren't good mini-DV cams still available, but they are too expensive for my budget, as a retiree.
