Isn't it too small for practicality? It would be lost in my ham fist, not to mention I couldn't hold the darn thing still. At standard play, with the supplied memory card, you would get <7 minutes of shooting.

Math error on your part, Brian?

This camcorder ships with a 2gb memory card.

In the highest quality mode (XP 10mbps/vbr), that 2gb memory card would allow for 25 minutes of video.

In addition, this models supports memory cards larger than 2gb.

A 4gb memory card is now selling for $23.90: http://tinyurl.com/2ka4kg

Ah, yes, thanks for correcting me on that one.

              Still, $44.90 isn't bad.

And I suspect the price really will drop to $23.90 by this time next year.

Even so we're talking about $10 a gig at todays prices. That's pretty darned cheap compared to system memory, and for an emergency cam to have 50 minutes (and still have the original 2g/25 mintues in your pocket) and not to rely on moving parts is worth the cost at twice the price.

Ooooops! Yes, error, sorry. I confused bits and bytes, because the stupid idiots did not use standard units. The correct unit for a bitrate is Mbit/s (or kbit/s) not Mbps. Multiply my figure by 8.

BTW, Jerry, I wish you wouldn't use tinyurl: all it does is slow down the loading time. Far better to show the Panasonic table here and it's less work for you! It sometimes takes several seconds for tinyurl to redirect.
