Well, I have my system reconfigured... totally clean.

    Everything works great.

But I would suggest to Microsoft that since the .NET Framework version 1.1 was a "critical" update, then wouldn't it be logical for versions 2.0 and 3.0 to *also* be included among the "priority" updates?

If that had been the case, it would have saved me a lot of grief.

In conclusion, Microsoft could have eased the pain of my driver installation a great deal by including the .NET Framework versions 2.0 and 3.0 as "critical" updates along with version 1.1.

Again, I believe Microsoft is the "weak link."

.nET 2.0 and 3.0 were released as add-ons; .nET 1.0 was built into SP2, and had quite a few problems.

If you get .nET 3.0 it will install .nET 2.0 along with the two security updates required for .nET 2.0; it also fixes some memory usage issues 2.0 was somewhat notorious for.
