  • Apple Final Cut Pro Now Supports AVCHD!

APPLE has released the 6.0.1 update for Final Cut Pro:

    - Support for the AVCHD format through the Log and Transfer interface
APPLE's PDF guide reveals the AVCHD is automatically transcoded to either the APPLE Intermediate Codec or to the APPLE ProRes 422 codec.

Manuals, technical specifications, downloads, and more for Apple software and hardware

Final Cut Express HD, however, may not yet be updated:

    Jerry,

It's going to be interesting when you do finally move to Apple and FCP because after working with them for a while you'll be able to tell us the strengths and weaknesses of the products from a similar point of view as ours. i.e. people that have used PC's with MSP.

What really interests me about Apple is their new high definition codec, ProRes 422, which Apple claims is "a new post-production format from Apple that offers uncompressed HD quality at SD file sizes."

      Can you imagine?

      UNCOMPRESSED quality; SD file sizes.

Final Cut Pro revolutionizes post-production with 360° video editing and motion graphics, 4K HDR support, and advanced tools for color correction.

      Now that grabbed my attention.

        Jerry,

Sounds like an oxymoron, "uncompressed quality, SD file sizes." Hey sounds great.

Apple is doing some great stuff these days so I wouldn't put it past them.
