I tried by wife on Ubuntu Linux before getting a Mac when her Windows box died since neither of us wanted Vista, nearly six months later she's still loving it and it just works, no hassles for me to support her. Can't beat the bang/buck ratio!
I'm still using W2K for video editing and Photoshop, but doing most of my at home Email and web surfing on Linux as well.
