    Thanks Mark.

You wouldn't know when the Penryn will be available, would you?

The truth is…… I never worked with HD yet. Once I get going on my new editing PC and try it for myself, I don’t know what to expect.

I know what the difference is between “I” & “p”, what I don’t know is…. if I really need it yet. I need to lay my finger on it and see what it delivers.

24P would be nice (like that Canon HV20), but it needs to be a real 24P, not a 1080i, 60fps in a “flagged” 24p wrapper. HV30 isn’t here yet, so who knows what’s coming.
What we know that it will have 1920x1080 capable sensor, but it can’t record past 1440x1080 to a DV tape?!

But it doesn’t stop them from screaming, FULL HD! Just $300 more…..

Anyway, by the time I’m editing and capable of justifying myself what route I’ll take in HD, two things could happen. I could say that this is good enough for me and keep the CX7 or sell it and buy a new, 1080p camcorder. By then we may see a “real” 1080p camcorder with cheaper, solid state memory and a “real”24p.

Then again, if they did that, who would pay $5,000~$15,000 for the Pro Camcorders…..

    Andy.

Congrats! I bought a HDR-SR8 and am very happy with it. There is some motor noise at very low ambient levels, but after reading that review, i'll look into a bluetooth mic. I only chose the SR8 because i tend to be slow at editing the video. The 100GB HD is fantastic!

        well....

Expect Intel to release Penryn later this year beginning with its Xeon products, desktop Core 2 products should follow shortly.

...and my Sony Vegas and the new camcorder are to show up Jan 31.......

I think I'll give the Intel Core 2 Quad Q6600 Kentsfield 2.4GHz a shot before then.

Wong again, that was an old article I didn't check the date on.

          Worth waiting for...

Along with the notebook processors, Intel has announced three mainstream quad-core desktop processors, the Q9550, Q9450 and Q9300 – all of which will be available sometime in Q1 2008. The Q9550 and Q9450 feature a 12MB shared L2 cache and are clocked at 2.83GHz and 2.66GHz respectively, while the Q9300 is clocked at 2.50GHz and features just 6MB of L2 cache.

          Thanks, Mark.

            OK, a little update.

Lately I’ve been busy at work like crazy. From the couple of times that I tried to use this camcorder I can tell you a couple of things already.

The Auto Focus is kind of slow. Just like mentioned in the Camcorderinfo.com review. But I absolutely love the way you do a manual focus on the touch screen.
In general personal use I can live with that.

It’s hard for me to justify the quality of the recording yet. I don’t have anything to compare it to. Not yet. Didn’t even have time to download something to compare it to.

Chances are it’ll be at least few weeks before I’ll be able to give it some time too. At least I should have my new PC running by then I hope. All components but the Penryn Q9450 processor are coming. Penryn is not being shipped yet, hopefully soon.

But in general I think I’ll be happy with this quality output that I’ve seen so far. Considering the expectations to the price I paid for this camcorder, I’m happy and impressed with the results in full daylight. Low light…. still need to play, see and compare to something out there in this price range.

Like the way if “feels” in hand, don’t like it being so small and lightweight, it’s hard to keep it steady…. .

            Components for my PC:

            Penryn Q9450

            GIGABYTE GA-P35-DS4

Kingston HyperX RAM Memory 4-4-4-12 (2GB to test with but minimum 4GB at the and)

            PNY GeForce 8600GT 256MB

Still need to find a decent Power Supply.

            Any advice on these components?

Thanks, but this one will have to wait a little...

This camcorder is costing me more then ever with that new PC, Vegas software, couple 8Gb Memory Sticks and I still need a decent "Vacation" lens for my Nikon D40 I purchased last year.... .
