Audiophiles know what they are getting into. Be careful not to lump everyone who spends $$$$$ on hifi into the same category.

If I am running 1000W krell monoblocks, or some such thing, I'm not going to be using a $2 power cord. True, I am not going to use a $500 cord, but its definitely going to be more than $2. But if I am obscenely rich - why the h3ll not?

if you are that obscenly rich, you don't choose components. You get somwone else to do it, and if they happen to choose something with an obscene mark up for there own reasons so be it.....teh bastards

Perhaps. Maybe you just like to find your own though. I've known a few people who really spent most of their savings on audio equipment, much like some do on a car.
