  • Fix For Corel Ulead VideoStudio 11 Plus Crashes Following New Cineform Codec Install

If you install the latest version of the Cineform intermediate codec and you encounter a crashing problem with Corel Ulead VideoStudio 11 Plus, you may find the following info helpful.

Name and Save a Corel Ulead VideoStudio 11 Plus project file (.VSP) prior to any attempt to click CREATE DISC to open the DVD authoring module.

I've discovered that failure to name and save a project file before clicking the CREATE DISC (and then one of the disc options) will result in a program crash.

    Hope this helps,

    I spoke too soon.

If I edit any Cineform .avis, the program crashes no matter what I try.

If I keep the timeline free of Cineform .avis, I can open the DVD authoring module by saving the project file as I explained.

    Something is broken.

But I don't expect Corel to do anything about it in this decade.

    (Nor Cineform, for that matter.)

My workaround is to do something similar to what I've done all along with VideoStudio.

      1. Edit in the timeline.

      2. Export a finished file.

      3. Then, with *no* clips in the timeline, open the DVD authoring module -- making sure to have previously saved a .VSP file so that no crash will be triggered -- then after the DVD authoring module opens, I can directly import the finished high definition file.

Editing high def is so much easier on my Mac.

Well, it seems the mere presence of the newest version of the Cineform codec is just too much for the DVD authoring module of Corel Ulead VideoStudio 11 Plus.

        They appear to be incompatible.

Now, I can't import *any* type of video into the DVD authoring module.

        It always triggers a crash.

        I've re-opened a ticket with Cineform support.

Regained some stability by installing the March 2008 Microsoft DirectX update:

Still not perfect; but I can get some work done.

This is easily the most *unstable* version of VideoStudio I have ever tested.
