Pinnacle Studio 11 for HD editing?

So I just got back from a week in Spain, with about 8GB of full HD content from my new Panasonic HDC-SD9, and I want to look at it on the PC.

I have looked at it all via Component on a Sony 768-line LCD and was very impressed with that, which I think will actually have been stretched 480-line output.

The camcorder comes with Studio Plus 11, although it is only a 15-day trial I had to patch it to 11.1 before it would play the HD content reliably at all, but now at least the low-res preview is fine, and renders are fine. Full-res previews are another matter though - its starts off smooth and the frame rate gets lower and lower. I'm not short of CPU (Q6600) or RAM (4GB) and the test file was only ~100MB, so not sure what its problem is. WMP will play the .MTS files perfectly fine. My gfx card is a 512MB 2600Pro.

There is an interesting new version of VideoStudio on the threshold. Obviously, it won't be launched during the hols season, but it may be worth the wait,

Trouble is in 15 days time I won't be able to do anything with my vids (although I will be in Florida at that point and don't think I'll have a laptop with me) so could afford to wait until September.

I have ~3.5Hrs worth of SDHC storage (16,8,4GB cards). Will pick up some more over there if I run out.

I used Studio yesterday to make a video-invite for my 40th, coming up soon. It was really easy, the only problem was the stupid frame rate of the preview making it hard to see transistions etc precisely.
