  • Anybody else get Vegas Pro 9 for $150?

Just about Xmas I got an Email from Sony offering Vegas Pro 9 for $150 as an update for any version of Vegas. I had Vegas Video 3 upgraded from Vegas Video 2 and have complained here about the loss of the activations servers once Sony took it over.

Anyways, I followed the link and they had my VV3 serial on file so I placed the order without hassle.

Installed it on a new Windows 7 build last weekend, things went smoothly, but I've not done much with it, its pretty different from the Vegas Movie Studio 9 on Win7RC1 which I had been using (worked very well but was only 32-bits running on 64-bit OS).

I think the offer has expired, but I'd not be surprised if more come along before Vegas 10 comes out.

Its was for the Vegas 64-bit version that I upgraded.

No, but I got Vegas PRO 8 last year (?) for around this much as well. Serves me well.

I downloaded the trial and didn't see any improvements important to my workflow from Vegas 8 that I'm currently using.

      I'll re-evaluate upgrading when 10 comes out.

I'm looking for better multi-cpu usage during preview and SmartRender with AVCHD. Oh yeah, and better BD templates. Names multipass that will be accepted without rerendering in DVDA.

Seems like we just got these issues ironed out in SD and now we're waiting on them again.

With a fast computer today most editing features for SD DV are pretty much realtime. Funny huh? Now with HD we're where we were performance-wise about 5 years ago.
