problem with out signal

I have a little problem...

When I send a video file (created with AVID CINEMA) to a VCR (JVC), images are bad, colour flicker from green to orange and viceversa.

Is this an hardware or software fault?
The source came from a digital camera (sony).

If you connect the output directly to your TV does it still flicker?
