Enabling DVin in europeans DV camcorders

Hi to all!!

These are links to pages in which you can find
informations and products to help you enabling DVin
in your europeans Dv camcorders.
As you know the same DV camera model can input video if buy in the States(NTSC),
and can't if you've taken it in Europe (PAL).
The european "idiot" reason is that
any device capable of recording video
through cable input (as opposed to through lens)
is classified as a VCR and gets additional tax.
But most european DV camera users are happy to pay a little more
to have not only DV out, but DV in too, and this is a major issue
here in Europe. People are actually complaining to
manufacturers and governments about it.

I don't own a DV camera, not yet, and have known the links thanks to
my favourite 3D software package(Animation:Master '99 -www.hash.com) mailing list,

Hi Ninetto,

At last some manufacturers have got the message and DV-in enabled camcorders are beginning to become available in Europe. Sony and Canon have both made product announcements this month. These products will cost around £150 more than the non-enabled equivalents.

There is also a thriving industry in "widgets" that can enable disabled devices. I don't know too much about this, but Computer Video magazine has been running a campaign on the whole problem for as long as I can remember.
