  • Media Studio vs Premiere vs Other

I'm still running the original matrox mystique and rainbow runner combination. But the desire for something better has infected me and now I'm looking at the G400 Marvel or the DC30pro (any other suggestions).

I've always used media studio pro in the past and was curious what the general conscience was on which software was better. I've used Premiere on occasion, because I couldn't figure out how to flip a video 180 degrees in media studio (camera mounted upside down while driving).

If I pull the trigger and upgrade the hardware, I'm going to be spending some time getting back into video editing. Now would be a good time to convert to a better software package if there is something better than media studio pro 5.2
    Thanks,
    robert@mz3.net

I use premiere 5 and After effects 4 Production bundle, with these two packages you can virtually do anything, although you might have to spend a few thousand on the the two.

What video hardware setup do you use?
      Thanks,

Here's how you flip a video 180 degrees with Ulead.

1- insert the desired clip you want flipped into V1 or V2 and not VA or VB.

2-in the transition box click on moving path
and click on 3D, choose one that actually
rotates, now insert it onto the clip.
3-change the attributes start/end, size etc.

        and your in buisness.

I guess it's a matter of knowing how to get around in either package for example..
The simplest thing, I don't know how to add text into premiere 5.0, I just can't find the option.

        Cheers,
        Elie

Im using an adaptec firewire card, 8920 i think, with the 8940 drivers, and a Sony D8 camera, to be honest the results are very similar to broadcast Pal quality.

So what's the biggest advantage media studio pro has over premiere?
            Thanks,

              >What's the biggest advantage of
              >MediaStudio Pro over Premiere?

I'd say it's the Video Paint and
              CG Infinity modules. MediaStudio Pro's
modules pack a lot of vector illustration
and bitmap editing and video painting
power into one package. With Premiere,
you have to buy Photoshop and Illustrator
and After Effects to get the same
functionality you get when you couple
              MediaStudio Pro with the BorisFX
              compositing plug-in.

              I like MediaStudio's elegant simplicity.

Premiere's interface is said to be
"slicker." But I swear... I have Premiere...
              and I don't believe it. I'm having a
hard time finding my way around. It
reminds me of being on a Mac. I'd say
              it's more "complicated."

              Premiere advantage: Using my Canopus
DV Raptor, I am able to use Premiere's
              built-in capture window.

              I am unable to use MediaStudio's built-in
"Video Capture" module with my Canopus
board. That forces me to use Canopus
              "Raptor Video" capture/playback software.

              It's just a convenience thing... not a
              functionality thing.
