Following on from Grigory. I have used the night-shot feature in the Bat Cave at Chester Zoo. This is an artifical bat environment where the illumination is VERY low - the attendants use red torches to show bats to the visitors. I got results that far exceeded my expectations. I did a clip with no night-shot (basically black except for a patch of red light) then turned on night-shot and got really good grey/green and white shots of the bats.
