I got a Sima Color Corrector with my new VCR for use in capturing some of my VHS videos to .mpg for
more convenient viewing. It makes the contrast worse - washes out most grays, can't adjust.
I mostly run with it off. Had to turn it on for
the first few seconds of one tape because PC-VCR wouldn't start recording without it.
Oddly, I have one VHS tape with a big "MACROVISION PROTECTED!" sticker on it, and was able to capture
with PC-VCR without the corrector on (running from the S-Video on the VCR). I haven't applied any
Macrovision hacks to my drivers.
Is it true that these anti-macrovision devices are going to be illegal in the USA after this year?
