Alternatives to real time with matrox mjpeg driver...
Well the MJPEG quality is roughly equivalent to that of the input quality. IE in my original capture/edit/output tests, I found that the final quality was virtually the same whether edited on the PC or copied direct directly from Camcorder to VCR.
Having been attempting to judge subjective quality for so long, I have started to notice how poor the quality of broadcast TV is in comparison with PC monitors. A point in case is the current Rugby world cup coverage. Whether you view this via ITV (in the UK) or Eurosport (Europe), the mid-distance shots are all vertically pixellated to a horrible degree.
Your alternative is to invest in a RAID array (Fasttrak or an alternative SCSI) and capture in RGB. This will thrash your PC to the absolute limit, so be prepared.
