Most interesting:

• 6 megapixel
• NEF+jpg combined format possible
• 3D color matrix metering with 1,005-pixel RGB sensor , spotmetering is available!
• shutter 0 to 1/8000 sec
• flash X-Sync: up to 1/500 sec
• flash: i-TTL (even for built in speedlight)
• buffer: 12 jpg or 4 raw, 3 fps
• price $999 for body

It looks like very serious 300D competitor, but based on the specs also like a D100 successor...
(ouch, Canon 10D !)

Yep, and the specs confirm the rumours... This has everything to become one great camera...

Nikon also mentions an SB600 speedlight and a new lens (optionally bundled with the D70).
