The Solarisation picture is comepletely untouched, out of the camera (The Dimage 7 series offers EXTENSIVE manual controls)

It is deliberately out of focus, overexposed against a bright background (my monitor), and with color set to solarisation on the cam. It was interesting to see how different exposures completely changed the color and mood of the scene (I can post examples if you wish).

For retouching, I would use Corel Photo-Paint 11, which is nearly as powerful as Photoshop. But I have never really edited my pictures, mainly because I have not shot any that I think are good enough to

I use to edit my photos only to resize them to e-mail, some family photos (mostly grandchildren) if one of them is to dark but the composition is ok. My wife uses to judge the family photos not after the “artistic” look, but after how the subject is smiling or brushed hear etc.
I use to edit my photos to make greeting cards for e-mail.
And, finally I edit my photos to play and experiment with different effects.
My favourite for FAST editing is PainShopPro 7.0 (v.8.0 is too slow to load). For more advanced editing I use Photoshop 7.0 and newly I am learning Photoshop CS (it is large and slow to load).
Finally, to keep us to the thread, Nikon is a nice camera for macro. I am dreaming to buy the new D70, but it is still too expensive.
Once Nikon always Nikon. I started with a Nikon F401s which still going strong.
(in fact I started with a Leica model 194x and a Contax of the same years model but it was long time ago )

Since people are still interested in the whole macro thing, I'll add some more.
This was taken with my 10D and Canon 100mm Macro.

A generically small spider, I don't remember exactly how big he was, probably an inch or two. I'll try and find something truly miniscule tonight and see what sort of extreme's I can go to.

Ok, so I suck at estimation, blah. :P

Heh, I took that shot over 2 months ago, it was probably closer to 1/2 inch to an inch.

                Very nice photo, Nappe1.
Did you send it to some exhibition?
                I should do that.

well, sort of... the link points to finnish online gallery for hobby photographers. if you click "edellinen" (means "previous") or "seuraava" (means next) links below the image, you'll see rest of my pictures on that exhibition.
