Depends on what you're looking for. The F31fd has better high ISO output, but no mage stabilization, and the F50fd's higher resolution can compensate for noise to an extent (since noise will have finer grain on prints of the same size).
The F31fd is a tad bulkier and uses only xD cards, but has much better battery life. I think if you can get it for significantly less than the F50fd and don't care about the F50s advantages and better looks, go for it. They're both among the best you can get for social shooting.
