    salü,

sorry guys, if anyone expected a picture. just need a few thoughts - my d70 just broke (again - there is the repetition), but this time it is not a failure that's covered by any recall, and the warranty is long gone by now.

to the point - apparently the AF sensor needs to be replaced and calibrated, price point: 350€. camera itself is working, but only with manual focus. coincidently *cough* this is about what the body itself is worth at this point...

basically I'm looking at 2 solutions:

    - repair
    - buy a d80 for about 650-800€.

I guess nobody would suggest to repair it, right? too bad, I was really happy with the camera, and would have kept it for some time longer....

    *sigh*

[edit] well, couldn't post without a pic now, could I?

    ok, now that's strange:

the regular price for the D80 seems to be around 800€ (amazon et al.). there is just one shop that claims a 624€ price, available after 5th september. now if that would be some small shack I'd say scam, but in that case it's "weltbild", which is a bit like amazon from pre-internet ages. and it should be in their shops from tomorrow on - time to take a look I guess.

mistake & order as soon as possible or general price drop?

    curious indeed.

Some people have been known to accidentally break things like cameras and claim on the accidental-damage part of their house insurance...you know, accidentally knocking it off a table on to a hard floor, that sort of thing happens all the time.

As to that price, never beleive it until you see stock available.
