    Win2K Pro

Had 98SE and Me, way too much problems, stability & LOTS of mem usage.

Win2k - totally in control, extremely stable, am willing to sacrifice SOME games for it

Win2k on all machines for games, web and some development etc. All machines can dual boot into Win98 and one has a NT4 partition.
Tried Linux I dont really like it (too much hard work) but seeing as I have a spare 2 gig scsi I might give it another try with a more recent distribution.

Win2K on my main machine. Much more stable and faster (in some ways) than Win98. Never crashes unless I do something stupid (e.g. o/c my P3-750 to 900).

Win95 on my P133 - because that's what was originally on it, and the machine's too slow to put a newer OS on it. Does nothing but run Genome@Home.

My P166 used to run FreeBSD (just to learn) before the HD crashed

Win98SE all around except for my P133 Laptop that has 95 on it.

Celeron 300@464 (Wife's machine) is dual boot with an old install of RH6.1.

I'll probably put a dual boot on my main machine (Duron 800 @1035) with RH7.1.

I use 98SE because of games. My 2 current favorites (Age of Kings & Asheron's Call) are both MS products, therefore will never be ported to Linux...

Don't use 2K 'cuz Greebe said it sucks. (oh, and I have an Aureal SQ2500)

                Ok Im different

K here goes I must be the odd one out here

I use WinME - for stability against Win 98 (found it to be anyway)
also fell into the trap of if it's newer it should be better ?
At the mo thou I have to say for me ME has/is better than 98.

                seeya...............

                  Windows XP exclusively.

With the release of RC1, all previous operating systems are obsolete. Here's why:

                  Win95, 98, 98se, ME: I have two CPU's. 'Nuff said.

Win2k: Slower than XP, less compatible with hardware and games.

Linux: It's a 30 year old OS, people. UNIX is DEAD. Plus there's no (good) software. Get a clue, you can't get anything at all done with this OS.

BeOS: No software, good or otherwise.

                        Win ME

Worked pretty good, up untill I got my ram to 384.
Now it leaks memory like crazy.
                        Guess I'll try 2k.

At home iI use (despite Gurm's ignorance, stubbornness, and severe need of a good LART) Linux. 98SE for games.

At work I'm using HP-UX (because, after all, what else runs well on a C360?).
Gigabyte P35-DS3L with a Q6600, 2GB Kingston HyperX (after *3* bad pairs of Crucial Ballistix 1066), Galaxy 8800GT 512MB, SB X-Fi, some drives, and a Dell 2005fpw. Running WinXP.

                                Stubborn? Yes.

                                Ignorant? NOW I'M OFFENDED.

You can call me pig headed, you can call me biased, you can call me a lot of things but ignorant I ain't, pal.

I didn't really want to get into this argument here, but I'll say what I've said a thousand times. When you can show me a BETTER 3D design program than Maya or 3DS Max, a BETTER image manipulation program than Photoshop, and a BETTER office suite than Office XP - then Linux might be worth considering.

But Gimp, Blender, and Star Office (aka Shit Office) aren't those programs.
