Winamp + Monitor Power Saving = Freezing

If I have winamp playing and then my monitor turns off with the energy saving feature my computer freezes. Whatever sound bit that was playing would be repeated over and over... until I hit the reset button on my computer. Don't think this happened on older versions of Winamp, but I don't remember using the power savings before either. Any ideas on how I could fix this while still using the energy savings?
