  • A cheap i840 board, should I?

Just been offered this board on a stock clearance from my favourite supplier: http://www.supermicro.com/PRODUCT/Mo...40/PIIIDME.htm

Usual high-end SuperMicro stuff, all I need to do is find identical slot 1 CPUs...oh, and an extended ATX chassis

I have a full tower...anyone know if that supports 'E'ATX? Is Extended actually a standard?

Sorry, um, where did Gateway come into it?

Also, this is a new board, not refurbished.

Anyway, back to my reasons for it:
It's £70 ($100), and I could get 1GB of RAM for £130 roughly, which gives me an i840 motherboard and 1GB for £200. Although I would love to buy these new Intel's, they are kinda out my price range, even this is an unplanned purchase - I just got interested after I saw the price...

Then I got find a partner for my P2-350, or 2 new Slot1 CPUs...

    Oh well...

I was going to say that you shouldn't get it because RDRAM is sooo expensive.

But were can you get hold of 1GB so cheap???

        Sorry...but I was listening, honest!

No, I got your point...genuine Intel+RAMBUS is sweet But I'm wondering if this board is worth £70 - cheaper than any i8xx board I've ever seen! I didn't want to sound ignorant, that's Gurms territory supposedly

Novdid: 256MB DIMMs are around £30 (not RIMMs if that's what you thought).
