System resources are different than free RAM. I had a system with 64 MB of RAM for WinME and it had the same free resources as the same computer with 192 MB - each after a clean install. A good explaination of this can be found at http://content.techweb.com/winmag/co...er/2000/11.htm , which is also written by Fred Langa.

Just in case anyone was unclear.

Went through some old threads regarding this problem and found some references to Cacheman.
Installed the program, the preset settings didn't seem to help me.
Choosing the same value on the Minimal and Maximal Disk Cache and using Conservative Swapfile Usage did though.

When I first load Windows I have around 330 mb of memory free, but it soon drops to 300 when I open MyComputer (never to recover).
After playing Quake 3 it would go down to around 210-230 mb free and for UT 170-190, but it would recover after that to around 280-300.
As for free user and GDI resources, I'm at around 67-71% free with the combo mentioned in the previous post (and 252 mb memory free).

      Cacheman 4.1
